WOL Nigeria

Dear Prayer Partners,

I finished up as the conference speaker for Accelerated Christian Education last week and had an awesome time with the kids.  Since I arrived home, I have been trying to pull everything together for our upcoming furlough along with preparations for the return of the Bahagos. I hope this prayer letter brings you up to date and you can rejoice with us concerning the way the Lord is working. We really do look forward to seeing all of you and ask that you continue to pray for us and Nigeria.

FW: Nigeria

Dear Prayer Partners,

Just wanted to give you a very quick prayer request. We are headed out for evangelism today through Sunday to Southern Kaduna. The 4 villages are Marsh 1 & 2 and Afana 1 & 2. After we had done the survey a few weeks ago a village that we had planned to go to had trouble and we had to change  plans to the 4 places that we are now headed to. Please pray for safety for Meredith and Sarah who will be at home, for us that are traveling to have no trouble with vehicles’, equipment or people and most of all that many will come to know Jesus as we seek to  glorify God.

God Bless

Bob

FW: Nigeria update

Dear Prayer Partners,

I was able to speak with Ali Gorjo the other day and they are doing well, they remain at the compound that is just outside of Mallam Fatori with a close friend in Niger Republic continuing to look for long term housing there that will be able to accommodate the ministry. Please continue to pray for safety, wisdom and direction for Ali, his family and the many Fulani converts that are with them.

Our weekend evangelism was a great success for the Lord. We learned Friday right before we left that 2 of the villages that we had planned to visit would not be possible as there was a traditional religious festival that was going to take place on Saturday, however the pastors we had set things up with were certain that we would not be in any danger and that we would have other options for Saturday evening. The team I lead had over 300 come out on Friday in the village of Reak and between the individuals that raised their hands during the Gospel presentation and those that came for counseling the next morning we had 135 Salvation decisions. Saturday evening we went to a nearby village, Nachang, that didn’t even know we were coming but once we set up, played some Christian music videos a crowd of over 250 came out and the next morning during counseling we had a total of 86 individuals that had trusted Christ. The pastor from this village was so excited that we had come and helped his work and ministry, many of those who trusted Christ, he had spoken to often before. The 2nd team stayed in the same village both nights with over 400 in attendance the first night and 250 the second, with a total of 165 that trusted Jesus Christ.

Just a small part of Reak village                       some that came out in Nachang village

Meredith and Sarah enjoyed last weekend and we were all delighted to hear that a group of armed robbers that had been terrorizing a number of communities had been caught in Jos, Friday evening. However, Sunday morning a few doors down from us, had a break in while the family was at church. Continue to pray for safety & protection, especially while I am away. I have a trip to Abuja this wed-thurs, Fri-sat will be in a village doing follow-up and a tentative trip to Kaduna for clubs next week(depends on security). I also have a number of responsibilities at a Children’s/youth camp coming up on the 1st to the 6th of April, with a tremendous amount of final preparation before the camp begins.

Meredith and Sarah continue to enjoy high school—Sarah as a senior and Meredith as Bible teacher. Of course, Sarah is counting down the days to graduation, while Meredith is savoring these last few months with Sarah in our home before she goes off to Word of Life Bible Institute in Upstate New York! Meredith says that Kindergarten to high school was not as huge a leap as one might think, and has really enjoyed the challenge of teaching a higher level. All for now, off to teach our Church’s youth and see how far we make it through Daniel chapter 7.

Pray for Nigeria

Dear Prayer Partners,

It has been some time since some of you have heard from us and I do apologize. Pray specifically for a greater Love and Grace to combat the frustration, disappointment and discouragement surrounding life and ministry here in Nigeria.

As most of you no doubt have heard of the troubles in Northern Nigeria, please be in prayer for one of our staff members and his family, Ali Gorjo. Last week Boko Haram attacked the town, Mallam Fatori that is closest to our Discipleship Training Center, forcing Ali and his family along with about 30 converts to hide in the desert. Since that point Ali has been searching for a place to relocate to in the Niger Republic, his home Country, but has not found anything yet. Yesterday two other towns very close to the DTC were also attacked with many buildings set ablaze in one of the towns. Please pray for safty, wisdom and direction for Ali, his family and the many Fulani converts that are with them.

Tomorrow two teams are headed to Southern Plateau for a weekend evangelism outing. The survey I did last week gave us good indications that we would not have problems and a call yesterday proved the area was not a security risk for us to travel to. However, in the Nigeria we live in today, where anything and everything seems to happen, we do need for people to pray for safety on the road and in the villages, that the equipment will not disappoint us and that our time will be profitable for our Lord and an encouragement to the Christians in the area.

Pray for safety for Meredith and Sarah who will remain back in Jos. We have had a few months of rather disturbing home invasions in our area and although we have added security measures around our home and have even been able to get the Police to patrol our area on a regular basis, It is the Lord who will keep them safe in my absence and your prayers that will facilitate the answer to these requests.

Please know that in spite of the challenges we face daily, God continues to work in amazing ways and for that we are grateful—His grace is what keeps us going.
